Neighbors boat.
Floated off its trailer so he tied it to a tree! Looks like it will survive.
Our street. Ocean meets Bay.
Bonnie and Bob's house. Neighbors.
Where did the bulkhead go?
Missing: the entire bulkhead cap, including railings and post lamps. Also Missing: the section that connects the deck to the dock. Apparerently, wave action was so strong that it popped the entire bulkhead cap right off.
Deck to the dock. Missing pieces.
This was a pretty large section of deck. Now, totally gone.
The gap. Bulkhead to dock.
And the dock isn't in such great shape either.
Bob and Bonnie's lower level
Some severe, possibly structural damage, is evident on the lower level of the house (faces the bay).
The elevation wasn't planned on the dock.
Some serious stuff here. Lots of work for Bob, unfortunately.
Deck, railings, house wall. Bonnies
Structural damage to Bob and Bonnie's garage.
Water, flowing from the bay to the street, created such pressure that it literally blew the garage doors out.
Another view of Bob and Bonnie's garage.
The Garden! ahem.
This was the beautiful garden that Bev created between their place and Bob and Bonnie's. All lost to Sandy.
The new stairs and railings didn't survive.
Almost a clean sheet to garden on. Sigh.
At least the water is gone.
It left a lot behind, though. One man in Wildwood, NJ reported that he wouldn't leave his house because he could see a shark swimming in the water outside. Yikes!
Our driveway.
You can see the debris line left from the last high tide. Previous high tides were much higher that this one.
Our New Deck. Whew. Damage.
It looks like the front of the deck has been pulled away. Our steps to the dock are definitely pulled off. Railings look crooked. That can't be a good sign on a relatively new deck. Lots of work to do here, I suspect. Just hope the underpinnings of the deck and bulkhead are still in good shape.
Damage to our deck.
Our deck is shared with our neighbors, Rip and Bev. It's apparent from this photo (taken from Rip's side) that something is not right with this large deck. The deck is two feet higher that the base of the railing? Probably pushed up by wave action bouncing off the bulkhead.
Another view.
It's a little deep here.
And this was only Monday. The worst hit Tuesday AM.
Savage Seas.
8th st from Bay Ave to boardwalk.
All water on one of the main drags of Ocean City. Ocean meets Bay.
Nasty seas.
9th and Bay Avenue at the foot of new bridge.
Storm surge ABOVE the boardwalk.
News Van didn't make it to the bridge. Trying to escape.
